Last year we adopted this slightly used cat (read: rescue cat), and he is quite the character. He came with the name Kompis, which means “buddy” or “friend”.
I painted this around the same time as I painted Hermyone, where I was experimenting with digital watercolours. While I mostly work digitally these days, I have always had a love for traditional work, especially inks and watercolours. I was looking back at some of my older work that was painted using inks, and I decided that I wanted to see if it’s possible to do similar things digitally. There are so many different digital brushes and programs that mimic watercolours these days, and it’s something that is fun to experiment with. If you’re interested in knowing more about the process behind this image then check out the process video that is up on my YouTube channel.
