Valentines series

Sometimes it’s really refreshing to tell a little bit of a story. With valentines coming up I decided to have a romance based theme for this series. Though, as I was finishing the series I might have added a surprise ending.

A man is standing by the railing overlooking the sea while watching the moon. He is framed by the silhouette of a person resting an arm on their hip.

Not exactly the entrance she was hoping for, as he seemed mesmerised by the view, which was, in fact, a sight to behold.

A fun thing about this series is that while I had picked a specific colour palette to work with, I ended up adding a filter to the images I was uploading them to Instagram, and I ended up preferring those versions. The filter added a little bit more of a mysterious mood to the series, which I think works really well, especially with the little twist at the end.

A man and a woman embracing as they're looking out over the sea while watching the moon.

Enjoying an amazing view with a person you love. What could possibly be better?

For this series I’m also having some fun testing out some new brushes, in particular the half-tone brush which I’ve used heavily in the shadows and highlights.

A toast with two glasses half filled with red wine.

“To us!” The glasses clang loudly despite only they’re gently touching. This is truly the most fantastic way to spend valentines day.

Or is it? Enter character number three! The question is, who is this person, and are they crashing the party?

Is it a jealous girlfriend, or maybe a jealous ex-girlfriend wanting to come and ruin the seemingly perfect moment? Or is it perhaps this third person is simply there in a supportive fashion, be it as a waiter, maybe it’s a friend who want to surprise them, a family member, or maybe a third person in the relationship. Whatever happens next is already slowly being written in your mind!
