After having painted a a few other image studies, including a slightly moody alley in Tokyo, and I thought it would be fun to do something a little more focused. I came across an Instagram account which features photos of Japanese storefronts, and this charming storefront located in Obuse, Nagano, Japan. My focus was to use as few colours as I could, and simplify the image, rather than make an exact copy.
